Canadian Mathematical Society - Free Webinars
When: Monday, April 12, 2021 at 1:00pm
Where: Register here to receive the Zoom link.
Abstract: Mathematics in education has had its purpose questioned, its method of instruction debated, and its effectiveness tested in many different ways. In fact it may be one of the most hotly debated subjects in schools. In this talk we take a look at the past 150 years in Ontario math curriculum and investigate some of the thoughts, ideas, reports, and proposals that have brought us to where we are now in our math curriculum. While it by no means captures all the debates and changes from the past 150 years, I hope to give a general overview of some of the discussions that have taken place around this subject so that we may better understand where we are now, and gain a glimpse of an idea of where we could go in future.
The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) has a new initiative for Black and Indigenous students. Within the context of this initiative we offer a free webinars to students and educators. link ...
