OAME/AOEM Awards

The purpose of the Ontario Association for Mathematics Education's Awards is to formally recognize individuals and educators who demonstrate an outstanding contribution to mathematics education in Ontario. The successful candidate of each award enhances the learning environment, providing opportunity for students to do, see, hear and touch mathematics in a profound and meaningful way. If you know someone who qualifies for this honour, please nominate her/him/them for one of the following awards.

The deadline for award nominations is January 31st. Awards will be presented at the OAME Annual Conference.
 

Life Membership Award

This award recognizes an educator who has contributed in a significant way to OAME/AOEM, demonstrates outstanding leadership in mathematics education, and has accumulated 10 or more years of membership in OAME/AOEM.

Award for Exceptional and Creative Teaching in Elementary Mathematics
(formerly the Morley MacGregor Award)

This award recognizes an exceptional and creative elementary educator who demonstrates excellence in mathematics education and contributes to the overall development of students.

Award for Exceptional and Creative Teaching in Secondary Mathematics
(formerly the Don Attridge Award)

This award recognizes an exceptional and creative secondary school mathematics educator who demonstrates excellence in mathematics education and contributes to the overall development of students.

Elementary School Staff Award for Exceptional and Collaborative Mathematics Teaching

This award recognizes an elementary school (a school accommodating any or all of grades K-8) whose staff fosters collaborative and excellent mathematics teaching, contributes to the overall development of student learning of mathematics, and demonstrates leadership in the mathematics community.

Secondary School Mathematics Staff Award for Exceptional and Collaborative Teaching
(formerly the Kenneth D. Fryer Award)

This award recognizes a secondary school mathematics staff which fosters collegiality, team work, and excellent classroom teaching, contributes to the overall development of students, and demonstrates leadership in the mathematics education community.

This award recognizes an educator who has demonstrated leadership by contributing in a significant way to the development of mathematics educators and the enhancement of mathematics education in Ontario through innovation and/or research related activities.

Award for Outstanding Contribution to OAME/AOEM and Mathematics Education in Ontario
(formerly the Mona MacGregor award)

This award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to OAME/AOEM and contributed directly or indirectly to the improvement of mathematics education in Ontario but who is not necessarily an educator or a member of OAME/AOEM.
